trannies are the first pharmacopornagraphic sex dolls, a mass-produced post-fordist porn category. the billion dollar industry begins in the medical wing of the factory, with the invention of gender, with the invention of gender deviance, with the invention of a cure co-opted from the self-guinea pig administrations of trans women. gender dysphoria, as defined by the dsm-5, requires expensive procedures to "correct" ur body to the right one. trans medical knowledge is forced into the black market while cis doctors profit off the same procedures.

in the second step, capitalism funnels trans bodies into sex work in an infinite closed loop of transsexuals forced into porn --> trans porn categories --> trans ppl r viewed as inherently pornographic --> more trannies can only find work in the industry. "sh*males" and "ftm" are incredibly popular categories on pornhub; if u search for the top trans books on amazon, u only get sissy or forcefem porn, as if transness is a form of sex appeal.

despite their pornographic potential to generate revenue and what preciado calls potentia gaudendi from cis ppl, transsexuals face disproportionate gratuitous violence in sexual encounters. the "trans panic defense" argues that it is justifiable to kill a trans person in "self-defense" out of the fear of "unexpected" genitals. many ppl believe that not disclosing one's transness before sex or even dating is considered rape. trans women are oversexualized not only as fetishes but also as sex predators who creep into women's bathrooms to assault cis women. 

the criminalization of sex work and other systemic factors like poverty and atmospheres of violence lead to the mass incarceration of trans women. trans women are often raped by cops in exchange for freedom (or lack thereof). in a practice called "v-coding," trans women are placed in male prisons to "placate" aggressive men through repeated daily rape, forced into "marriages" and reduced to a sex toy.

in a more domestic sphere, trans men are also uniquely exposed to sexual abuse, often by family members or romantic partners. while trans women are seen as predators, trans men are victims of manipulation and mutilation: innocent little girls who didn't know better (and innocent little girls who can be raped into cisheteronormativity). they are made visible on the frontlines of terf narratives about "protecting our children," just as trans women are hypervisible as supposed threats. these two diverging pathways secure the dominant fear of transness on every side. it closes in on us.
